Pizza or Pasta Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at This is just your basic easy to fix pizza or pasta sauce...feel free to snip in some salami, herbs, spices as desired. For a pizza sauce, add less marinara sauce so that it is thick enough to spread and not be too drippy, whereas for a pasta sauce you can make it thinner to cover the pasta nicely.

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 pound lean ground meat
1- 2 cups Marinara Sauce or tomato sauce
zest of 1 lemon
2-3 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley
pinch nutmeg
salt and pepper as desired

In saute pan, heat oil and add meat. Break up meat with wooden spoon or silicone spatula. Stir and cook gently until meat is done, 5 minutes. Add sauce (less for a pizza sauce, more for a pasta sauce), zest, parsley, and nutmeg. Cook several minutes to blend flavors.
