Green Salad with Balsamic Dressing

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Use a balsamic that is aged at least 5 years. Also the infused balsamic vinegars are now very popular and available.

lots of fresh salad greens
fresh red raspberries, blueberries or strawberries, or dried fruits finely snipped
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2-3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (infused ones are great also!)
1 tablespoon sugar (maple sugar is nice) or honey
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
freshly ground peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon dried herbs, or 2-3 tablespoons fresh snipped herbs

Wash and dry the greens and place in a big beautiful salad bowl. Toss in the berries. In a glass measuring cup, whisk together the remaining ingredients. Taste and correct the seasonings, and toss into the salad. This is very nice with some brie or goat cheese on the side. Toss in some candied walnuts for added texture and crunch, or dried fruits.
