Toffee Splinters with Ice Cream

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com.

1/2 cup unsalted butter
3/4 cup raw sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
11 to 15 graham crackers
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces, or grated chocolate

In batter bowl, combine butter and sugar. Heat in microwave 2 minutes. Add nuts and salt. Place graham cracker squares in buttered round 2 quart glass or ceramic baking dish, to cover the bottom. Pour syrup over crackers. Cook in microwave 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Sprinkle with chocolate and heat another 30 seconds. Let stand 2-3 minutes, and then spread chocolate evenly over top. Cool. Break apart into pieces or cut into squares. Also great as a dessert with a scoop of ice cream or sorbet.
