Asparagus and Ham (Spargle mit Schwarzwalder Schinken)

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. A great appetizer...just steam some fresh asparagus and wrap with a very thin slice of ham!

fresh good quality asparagus spears
sea salt (depends on the ham)
freshly grated pepper
thin slices of Black Forest ham

Wash and trim asparagus, breaking or snipping off the hard stem ends. In a flat skillet with lid, heat about 1/4 cup water to boiling. Add asparagus spears, cover. Reduce heat to simmer or medium, and cook just 1-3 minutes. Do not overcook! Remove to serving platter and sprinkle with seasonings. Wrap with thin slices of ham. Or, just snip the ham onto the spears of asparagus.
