Using the tender top parts, place in a glass or ceramic loaf pan and sprinkle with a little water. Cover with waxed paper or other suitable lid. Microwave on high 2-3 minutes. Set aside. Slit each sausage lengthwise, but do not cut through. Open out and spread with mustard. Tuck a sliver of cheese and one asparagus spear into opening. Close and tie with kitchen twine. Heat stove top grill and brush with a little olive oil. Place bundles on hot grill and cook, turning several times, until heated through and browning.
