Tavern Franks

From Dorothy McNett's Recipe Book at www.dorothymcnett.com. For appetizers, cut franks into slices before cooking and serve with toothpicks.

1 pound franks or Polish sausage
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 can (12 oz.) beer or carbonated apple cider

Place franks in a 2 quart round ceramic or glass casserole. Arrange with onion rings. Pour beer over all. Cover. Microwave at 70% power level for 10-12 minutes. Serve in hotdog buns or on top of a pile of warm sauerkraut.

Or, arrange the same way in a saute pan and place on medium to low heat for about 15 minutes, covered.
