Viennese Coffee

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at Serve anytime of the day, but especially nice with one of the wonderful sweet dessert cakes or pastries from Vienna.

4 oz good quality bittersweet chocolate, in small pieces
1/4 cup heavy cream (or half and half)
4 cups freshly brewed Vienna Roast or French Roast coffee
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 cup brandy (or not)
1/4 cup whipped cream or frothed milk

Combine chocolate, cream, coffee and sugar. Heat in a glass batter bowl in microwave 1 - 2 minutes, or in a small saucepan on the burner for 2-3 minutes. Stir to melt the chocolate and dissolve the sugar. Stir in brandy. Pour into warm cups and top with dollops of whipped cream or frothed milk.
