Buy a fully cooked whole or half ham, with or without bone. 1 fully cooked ham Preheat oven to 350 degrees. With your very sharp boning or slicing knife, slice away any skin and trim the excess fat down to about 1/4 inch. Place it in a roasting pan (no need to use a rack) with the fat side up. Score the ham about 1/2 inch deep making cross hatches at an angle. At the intersections, poke in a whole clove. Combine 1/4 cup olive oil with 3-4 cloves slivered garlic and tuck into the cuts. Sprinkle with paprika. Calculate 15-20 minutes per pound, or roast until meat thermometer registers around 140-150 degrees. Increase oven temperature to 425 degrees. Pour the glaze over the roast. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until it starts to brown. Allow to stand about 20 minutes before slicing. Recipe created 2003-04-14. © 1996-2013 Dorothy McNett. All Rights Reserved. |
