Oaten Loaf

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. A modern version of the primitive loaves which were made before wheat was easy to find. This is a solid dense loaf. Slice and enjoy with coffee or tea.

1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups Irish oatmeal (can be found in the supermarkets)
1 1/4 cups oat bran
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/4 teaspoons raw sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons sea salt
2 1/2 cups buttermilk

olive oil and flour for the baking pan

Mix everything together in a bowl and leave to stand for 30 minutes. Lightly oil loaf pan with olive oil and sprinkle with a bit of flour. Put the mixture in pan and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.
