In batter bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, pepper and salt. With spoon or spatula, blend in the apples, nuts, caramels and juice. Spread into a buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. In another batter bowl, combine the sugar, oil, vanilla and sweet wine. Cook in microwave for 1-2 minutes, or until sugar has dessolved. Pour over batter. Bake 40-45 minutes.
