Caramel Apple and Pear Dessert
From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. To make this extra special, I am adding a few caramels from Lula's of Monterey candies.
3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In batter bowl, whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, pepper and salt. With spoon or spatula, blend in the apples, nuts, caramels and juice. Spread into a buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole. In another batter bowl, combine the sugar, oil, vanilla and sweet wine. Cook in microwave for 1-2 minutes, or until sugar has dessolved. Pour over batter. Bake 40-45 minutes. Serve warm with fresh fruit or ice cream, if desired.
