Burgers with Barbeque Sauce
From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Grill these outdoors, basting with more barbecue sauce as they cook. Or, cook indoors using a heavy bottomed frypan or grill pan. The secret is in mixing a bit of the sauce with the meat, and shaping them carefully.
1 pound lean ground beef (or other ground meats/combos as desired)
Make the recipe for Hamburger Sauce or Barbecue Sauce ahead of time. When ready to make the burgers, place meat in a bowl and toss in 4-5 tablespoons of the sauce. If using the sunflower seeds, work them into the meat mixture. Shape into patties, usually 1 pound of meat can make 2-3 good sized burgers. Get all of the condiments out, slice tomatoes, onions and etc. Spread each slice of buns with a bit of mayonnaise and set aside. Heat a heavy bottomed pan or grill pan until very hot. Place patties in pan. Cook 1-2 minutes per side, depending on doneness desired and size of the burger. When done, remove to a platter. Place the buns on the hot pan or gill with the mayonnaise side down and toast them slightly. Assemble as desired, eat and enjoy!
