From Haiti, this is a relish side-dish made up of spicy pickled vegetables. It is best marinating in the refrigerator for 1-2 days, so think ahead! 1/2 head cabbage, shredded Shred, chop, dice as desired. Combine vegetables, salt, pepper and sugar in a 2 quart glass bowl or jar. (A jar is the usual container, and the pikliz would always be available.) Pour in enough vinegar to cover the vegetables, packing them down a bit. Refrigerate at least 1 day, and it can be kept 2-3 weeks, refrigerated. Recipe created 2011-04-03. © 1996-2013 Dorothy McNett.
