Fruit and Nut Beer Bread

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Use whatever dried fruits you may have, such as cranberries, currants, raisins, apricots, peaches, berries. Use whatever seeds or finely chopped nuts you wish.

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1/2 cup oatmeal (steel cut Irish is great!)
2 tablespoons hemp or sesame seeds
1/4 cup raw sugar
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 cup dried fruits, diced if necessary
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
1 can or bottle of beer (10-12 oz.) at room temperature
1 teaspoon olive oil for greasing the baking dish

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Brush the 1 teaspoon olive oil over bottom and half way up the sides of a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan. In batter bowl, whisk together the flours, oatmeal, seeds, sugar, soda, salt, dried fuits and nuts to blend well. Blend in the beer and pour into prepared baking pan. Bake 45 minutes, or until it tests done and in nicely browned and smells great! Cool in pan for about 15 minutes, remove and allow to cool a bit before slicing.
