Crispy Cookies with Fruit

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at These are so easy, and everyone loves them! Makes about 24. Serve with fresh fruits of the season.

1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
1/2 cup crystalline brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup wheat germ
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves

sugar, or hemp or sesame seeds
sliced fresh strawberries or other fresh fruits

In processor using steel chopping blade, process butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla. Blend in flour, wheat germ and spices. Shape into balls about 1 1/2 inches and flatten with a fork, or bottom of a glass. Sprinkle with sugar or hemp seeds. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Let cool until firm, then remove from baking sheets. Serve with sliced berries for a great dessert.
