Kaeng Phed Nuer

Curry of Beef

1 small onion
1 clove garlic
zest of 1/2 lemon
1-2 dried red chilies
4 tablespoons Thai Seasoning
1/2 teaspoon dry lemon grass
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 cups thick coconut milk
1 pound tender beef (flank steak)

In processor, combine onion, garlic, zest, chilies, Thai Seasoning, lemon grass, and fish sauce. Process until smooth. Add coconut milk in batter bowl, and microwave on High 3 minutes. Blend. Microwave another 2-3 minutes. Set aside. Preheat browning dish on High 7 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon oil and meat. Microwave on High 2 minutes. Stir. Add sauce. Microwave on High 3-4 minutes, or until heated through. This is traditionally very hot, and this version is mild compared to the real thing.
