Pear and Apple Sauce
From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. A combination of apple and pear cooked to a sweetened sauce to use as a topping for pancakes, cakes, etc. Use any variety of apple or pear. Some will be sweeter, some will be smoother but that is the fun of making your own! Each time it will be different, and delicious. Adjust the sugar as needed.
Wash fruit carefully. Peel if needed, but is not necessary. Remove the cores and cut into chunks. Place in glass or ceramic batter bowl along with the sugar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook in microwave 3-4 minutes. Stir. Cook another 2-3 minutes or as needed to become tender. Taste, and if needed add a bit more sugar for sweetness. Serve just as they are, or whirl in a blender or food processor to achieve a smooth consistency.
