Dulce de Leche

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Use this to spread between cookies, such as South American Alfajores. Dollop some over Panama Mango Bread when serving as a dessert. You can also cook the milk in a saucepan on the burner, stirring constantly.

1 can sweetened condensed milk

For Peace and Love Dessert, make the dulce de leche just to brown a bit but not to get too stiff. Allow to cool. and stir in some fresh sliced strawberries and shaved 100% dark chocolate. Serve in small French demitasse cups, or use as a sauce for cakes, etc. I bet the British Treacle Sponge would be perfect! Pair, serve, and get along!

Pour the milk into a glass or ceramic 8 cup batter bowl. (Do not use plastic!!!) Cook in microwave for about 12-15 minutes on half power (power level 5), stirring every 2-3 minutes. This is important, so that you can watch the consistency, etc. In about 12 minutes it will be lightly browned and still a little soft and spreadable. For a darker color cook 3-4 minutes more.
