Creamy Dessert Topping or Spread

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. This can be made with your choice of raw nuts, but I prefer using cashews for their extra creamy texture when pureed. Serve with cakes, pies, puddings, cookies, or just spoon it up and eat it along with some dried cranberries, goji berries, etc.

1 cup raw cashews
6 - 8 pitted dates
1/2 cup marsala wine, or orange juice, or water...

In food processor with steel chopping blade in place, first whirl the cashews to turn them into a very fine and almost creamy mixture, dropping in the dates to blend in. With motor running, gradually pour in the liquid to get the consistency desired. Sometimes I also add a pinch of salt, if needed. Up to you!
