Layered Lettuce Salad
From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. A great recipe for picnics and pot-lucks as you can make it ahead and refrigerate until serving time.
1 head lettuce
Shred or tear lettuce and place in bottom of a serving bowl. (Use a clear glass one so that you can see the layers of the salad, if available) Sprinkle with the green pepper, and then the celery, and then the onion, and then the peas. Cover with mayonnaise. Sprinkle with the shredded cheese and the crumbled bacon. Serve now, or refrigerate several hours or even overnight.
