Kielbasa or Corned Beef Hash with Avocado

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. For this recipe I have substituted avocado for the usual poached eggs. Either or both work nicely with the hash.

1-2 medium potatoes, to make about 2 cups diced/mashed
1 small shallot, or several green onions, diced
1 pound Polska Kielbasa or corned beef, finely chopped
1/2 cup half and half, or use almond or hemp milk
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
3-4 tablespoons oil or unsalted butter
1 - 2 avocado
fresh dill (or pinches of dried)
fresh lettuce leaves for serving

Cook (or bake) the potatoes and dice them to get about 2 cups. Dice the shallot and finely chop the kielbasa or corned beef. Combine potatoes, shallot, meat, half and half and pepper. Shape into about 6 flat rounds. In a heavy bottomed skillet, heat the oil or butter. Brown on both sides. (If they fall apart a little, no worries) Place the browned patties on fresh lettuce leaves and then arrange slices of the avocado on top. Sprinkle with snipped fresh dill. Serve!
