Baked Camembert Appetizer

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at

8 oz. wheel of camembert in a wooden box
1-2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon freshly snipped herbs, such as rosemary, parsley, thyme
1/2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

slices or chunks of French bread
olive oil for drizzling
pinches of Herbes d Provence

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove the wrapping paper from the camembert and place the cheese back in the box. Place on a baking sheet. Make several slits in the top of the cheese and sprinkle with the finely minced garlic and the snipped fresh herbs. Drizzle with olive oil. Bake about 15 minutes. Remove from the baking sheet and place on a serving platter. Turn the oven up to broil. Scatter the bread slices or chunks on the baking sheet and sprinkle with olive oil and some Herbes d Provence. Place under the broiler to brown both sides, about 1 minute per side but depends on oven and bread so keep your eye it so they do not burn. Arrange the toasted bread around the cheese and serve.
