Cheddar Cheese Soup in Pumpkin Shell

3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons unbleached flour
2 cups chicken broth
1 cup milk
1 cup half and half
1/2 cup white wine
1 tablespoon finely chopped sweet red pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped sweet green pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
2 cups (8 oz.) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Combine butter and flour in glass or ceramic batter bowl. Microwave 30 seconds. Whisk in broth, milk, half and half, wine, peppers, Worcestershire, white pepper, and hot sauce. Microwave on High 5 minutes. Whisk well. Microwave another 6-8 minutes, or until thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted. Serve in hollowed out pumpkin shells, as desired.
