Hojaldres (Fried Bread)

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Serve as an appetizer with sausages or hot dogs (apparently in Panama City lots of hot dogs with lots of catsup)! I choose to use chorizo or even one of the vegetable sausages with this. Enjoy no matter what!

1 3/4 cup unbleached all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup water
oil for frying, such as grapeseed, peanut, corn etc.
drizzles of honey for serving
cooked sausages, chorizo, etc. for serving
salsa or catsup, etc, as desired

In batter bowl whisk the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter and then mix with water. Allow to stand about 5 minutes. Heat a heavy bottomed skillet (cast iron is great) with oil to cover the bottom by about 1/8 inch. Pinch off dough into small chunks and pat out about 1/4 inch thick. Fry in the oil, turning to brown both sides nicely. Place on serving plate and drizzle with a bit of honey, along with sausages, sauces, etc. as desired.
