Spanish Anise Cookies

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at Great served with a Spanish flan for dessert!

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup raw sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons anise extract
2 1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/3 - 1/2 cup milk, for dipping
3/4 - 1 cup sesame seeds, spread out on a plate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In batter bowl blend together the softened butter, sugar, egg and anise extract to make a smooth mixture. Whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together and then blend in make a still but manageable dough. Pinch off about 1 tablespoon of dough and shape into desired shapes. (sticks, rounds, etc.) Dip each one into the milk and roll into the seeds. Place on silicone lined baking sheet and bake about 18-20 minutes until nicely browned and done. Cool.
