Cauliflower Broccoli Beehive or Christmas Tree

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. A perfect finger food vegetable for dipping into healthful oil and seeds, dips or dressings. And, this is wonderful served with a cheese sauce to drizzle over the top. Garnish with a tomato rose, if desired. This recipe was featured in a television show by Dorothy, using colorful cauliflower. After inverting the vegetables onto a serving plate, drizzle a vinagrette or other tasty sauce over all. For Christmas, call it a Christmas tree and decorate with bits of red and green bell peppers, etc...

1 bunch fresh broccoli
1 bunch fresh cauliflower

Cut broccoli and cauliflower into small pieces. Arrange attractively, alternating rows of each vegetable in a glass or ceramic batter bowl. Cover with a glass or ceramic plate. (Do not use plastic!) Cook in microwave using 5 minutes per pound as a guide. A full 8 cup batter bowl of the vegetables will take about 8 minutes cooking time, for instance. When done, remove plate (careful, it may be hot. Use the warm plate for your dinner plate!). Using a glass measuring cup, press gently on the top of the vegetables to compact them slightly. Allow to stand several minutes before inverting onto a beautiful platter. Garnish as desired.
