Turnips, Apples, and Onions with Maple Glaze

Wash and scrub the turnips and slice into 1/4 inch wedges or slices. Wash and core the apples, and cut into similar sized shapes. Peel and slice the onion and place all in a glass or ceramic batter bowl. You can arrange them in layers if using a glass or ceramic pie/quiche dish for a nice presentation as well. Drizzle with the lard, butter, or oil. Cover with a glass or ceramic plate. Cook in microwave about 6-8 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork. It depends on how many you are cooking...if using just 1 each it will take about 6 minutes. If using 2 of each it will take about 10 - 12 minutes. When tender, drizzle with the maple syrup and season as desired.
