Apple and Tomato Chutney

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. Great served with chicken dishes along with rice and vegetables.

2 medium apples
2 - 3 tomatoes (to make about 1 1/2 cups chopped)
1 onion
3-4 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup raw sugar

Chop the apples (do not peel them), tomatoes, onion and garlic. Combine everything in a glass or ceramic batter bowl. Cook in microwave 5 minutes, stir well. Cook another 15 - 20 minutes on half power (power level 5). Stir and set aside to cool. Or, combine everything in a heavy bottomed saute pan or dutch oven, bring to a boil. Stir well, reduce to low simmer and cook about 40 - 45 minutes.
