Rum Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at Make this and pour it over strawberry shortcake, or other cakes as desired!

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup raw sugar
1 egg, whisked well
1/3 cup rum

Put butter in glass or ceramic batter bowl and melt 30 - 40 seconds in microwave. Whisk in the sugar and egg and cook for 30 seconds. Whisk well, and then cook another 30 seconds, whisk and then another 30 seconds and whisk! Cool slightly and then whisk in the rum. Serve warm or chilled as a great topping for just about any dessert, but especially wonderful with strawberry shortcake.
