Cheese Bread Bowl

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at Shape this any way you wish, but it is fun to shape it into a round loaf like a bowl. Then when it is baked and ready to serve, slice off the top, scoop out some of the bread and fill it with cooked flavorful filling of choice, such as Chicken Salad, etc.

1 cup warm water (110-115 degrees)
2 1/4 teaspoons instant dry yeast (1 envelope)
3 cups unbleached all purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons sea salt
1/4 cup sorghum or molasses, or honey or a combo
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 - 3/4 cup shredded cheddar or other cheese of choice
2 - 3 tablespoons flour for kneading

In batter bowl combine the warm water and yeast. Add the 3 cups of flour and salt along with the sorghum or molasses and olive oil to mix it together. Blend in the grated cheese. Dump out onto a lightly floured surface and hand knead for about 4 - 5 minutes to form a fairly smooth dough, sprinkling with a little flour as needed if it seems "sticky" to your hands.. Shape it into a round loaf and place on a silicone or parchment lined baking sheet. Cover loosely with a towel. Place in a warm draft free place and allow to rise about 45 - 60 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake about 45 minutes. Place on a rack to cool, and when cool enough to handle using a bread knife slice off the top. Remove some of the inside of the loaf to make a bowl shape. Fill it with your salad or other filling and place the top back on, or off to the side. Serve! Use the bread that you removed to make the bowl as a topping or toast them to make little croutons, etc.
