Pasta Sauce with Pine Nuts and Walnuts

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at A wonderful blending of flavors to serve over any shape pastas, or rice, or quinoa, or let it cool and use as a great salad dressing over a bowlful of crisp greens, etc.

1 cup walnuts
1 cup pine nuts
6 - 8 cloves garlic, or more or less as desired
2 - 3 tablespoons snipped fresh oregano, or 1 tablespoon dried
3 - 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup raisins or currants
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
freshly ground pepper as desired
cooked pasta or rice or quinoa....
freshly grated Parmesan or other cheeses as desired or not

In food processor with steel chopping blade in place, chop the walnuts, pine nuts and garlic cloves to make a coarse paste. Whirl in the oregano. In a heavy bottomed skillet, heat the olive oil and then stir in the nut mixture along with the raisins, salt and pepper. Cook about 4 - 5 minutes to blend flavors and to get it nice and hot. Pour it over the pasta and garnish with cheeses as desired.
