Beef with Sesame Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at This recipe is easy and yummy, and serve it with cooked rice.

1/2 - 1 pound rump steak, or other tender cut of beef steak
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons hot water
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 - 2 cloves garlic very finely minced
3 tablespoons peanut oil
1/2 cup beef stock
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 tablespoon sesame paste (Tahini)
1 - 2 teaspoons chili sauce, or any hot sauce as desired

cooked white rice for serving

Very thinly slice the beef into strips. In a bowl combine the shredded beef, salt, baking soda, hot water and soy sauce. Stir or knead by hand until liquid is absorbed into the meat. Heat a wok or stir fry pan with the peanut oil. Add the minced garlic and the meat and stir fry over high heat about 2 minutes. Add the stock, bring to a boil. In a small bowl or cup, combine the cornstarch and cold water to make a paste and stir it into the beef, cooking and stirring until thickened. Turn off the heat, stir in the sesame paste and chili sauce and serve with the cooked white rice.
