1 bulb of garlic
Separate the cloves of garlic from the bulb and peel them, keeping them whole and do nut cut or slice them. Heat a heavy bottomed Dutch oven or large saute pan with the butter and then saute the garlic cloves several minutes, stirring often, until golden brown. Add water or broth, parsley, salt and pepper and simmer about 8 - 10 minutes. Place a slice of bread in soup bowls and pour the soup over it. Serve!
