Sweet Potato Casserole

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. An old style recipe that was very tasty and popular with George and Martha Washington, it appears.

2 - 3 sweet potatoes, roasted in oven and then mashed to make about 3 cups
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup raw sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

1/3 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup all purpose unbleached flour
1 cup raw sugar
1 cup pecans, lightly chopped

Bake the potatoes or cook them in the microwave and then mash them to make about 3 cups of pulp. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly oil a casserole dish and set aside. In batter bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, 1 cup butter, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla and spread into the casserole. Now melt the 1/3 cup butter and blend in the flour, sugar, and pecans and crumble over the top of the sweet potato mixture. Bake 25 - 35 minutes and serve!
