Steamed White Rice

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at Use your microwave oven for steaming rice so simply and perfectly! Use brown rice, white rice, or other varieties as desired. Follow the measurements listed on the package of rice for adjusting the amount of water and timings.

1 cup white rice, short or long grained
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Combine rice, water, and salt in glass or ceramic batter bowl. Cover with a glass or ceramic plate. Cook in microwave on full power for 5 minutes, then on half power (power level 5) for 10 - 12 minutes, or until rice is done. Allow to stand 1-2 minutes, then fluff up with a fork.
