Simple Summer Tomato Basil Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at

1/2 cup chopped fresh basil
2 - 3 large cloves garlic, minced
4-6 large, ripe tomatoes, about 2 pounds, chopped
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
salt and pepper
1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
1 recipe pasta, cut into fettuccine or other shapes

Make the pasta, and while it is drying slightly, bring a large pot of water to the full boil. In meantime, prepare the sauce by chopping the basil, mincing the garlic, and chopping the tomatoes. Put them in a bowl and stir in the olive oil, salt and pepper. When the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon salt and a little oil. Add the pasta, and cook until tender but chewy, about 1-2 minutes. Drain and put in a warmed large serving bowl, add the tomato sauce, and toss with the cheese. Serve right now!
