Fresh Strawberry Jam / Sauce

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. This makes a small batch, perfect for enjoying now, and giving as a gift. It also works as a nice strawberry sauce.

2 cups (1 pint) fresh strawberries, sliced and minced
1-3/4 cups raw sugar

Using glass batter bowl, combine minced berries and sugar. Cook in microwave on full power 5 minutes. Then reduce to half power (power level 5) and cook 10 minutes more, or until mixture is slightly thickened. Pour into 3 - 4 glasses or jars, such as coffee cups or other attractive dishes. Allow to cool and then cover and refrigerate. Use within 2 months.
