Fresh Fruits a la Orange

From Dorothy McNett's recipes at www.dorothymcnett.com. This is like a typical custard sauce, but is made with water and fruit juice instead of milk, and then served with creamy brie cheese. It can be an appetizer, or also a dessert served with chocolate cake, etc..

freshly cut fruits, such as strawberries, raspberries, bananas, kiwi, apples, pears, peaches

1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
grated zest of 1 orange

wedge of brie cheese
crackers or thin bread slices

Whisk sugar, cornstarch, water, juice, and zest together in batter bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute. Whisk well. Microwave another 1 minute, or until mixture has thickened. Cool enough to serve with fruits, brie cheese, and crackers or thin bread slices.
