Dulce De Leche

4 cups whole milk
1 cup sugar

Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened to the consistency of condensed milk and slightly darkened in color, about 1 hour. If wanting it to be carmellized to spreading and spooning consistency, cook about 20 minutes longer or until darkened and quite thick.
