Baked Apple Ginger Dumplings

1 cup unbleached all purpose flour
1 cup sugar (white or brown)
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup melted unsalted butter
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

2-3 apples
2-3 tablespoons candied ginger

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, egg, butter, and walnuts and set aside. Peel, core, and slice the apples and layer with candied ginger in a pie dish. Pour the flour mixture over the top of apples and bake 35-40 minutes.
