Seasoning Cast Iron Cookware

Wash, rinse, and thoroughly dry to remove any protective wax coating. Put 1 tablespoon oil (no salt!) in the pan and then use a cloth or paper towel to coat the entire surface of the utensil, inside and out, including all corners, edges, and lids. Heat the pan upside down at 350 degrees for 1 hour, putting a cookie sheet on the rack below to catch any drippings. Remove from oven. Wipe with paper towel.
